Qualifications:
Required: SNA Certification and Serve Safe Certification required, High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Preferred: 3 to 5 years previous experience in nutrition services is desirable. Experience as a nutrition service assistant in the SJSD.

Purpose: Supervision of a staff of employees and the implementation and coordination of nutrition services that ensure a high standard of nutrition, food production and service.
Essential Job Functions:
- Attend work in a regular, reliable and punctual manner.
- Attends relevant training classes and workshops.
- Implements defined standards of sanitation and safety for personnel, food preparation, kitchen equipment and physical plant.
- Manages and participates in the preparation of food within an established production system following standardized recipes, preparation and service methods, and food handling techniques to ensure acceptable standards.
- Participates in developing and maintaining routine procedures for accurate checking and distribution of meals to promote and evaluate client satisfaction.
- Follows established procedures for service and distribution of meals.
- Orders food supplies according to established specifications determined by menu, volume and student needs.
- Maintains required department records.
- Directly supervises a staff of nutrition service employees. Staff, schedules and plans work assignments and holds departmental meetings.
- Establishes and maintains a system to check, inspect and store all incoming food and supplies.
- Implements food production systems in which tasks are organized and schedules are made for nutrition service employees in accordance with menu requirements.
- Promotes and maintains an effective communications and public relations program.
- Performs other such duties or responsibilities as may be assigned by the Director of Nutrition Services.
