Recruiting and retaing a quality work force is one othe the district goals.  The Pathway to Teaching program is desinged to assist current employees who already have a bachelor's degree in something other than education an opportunity to become a teacher in the SJSD.  Interested employees who meet the basic qualifications would go through a screening and potentially become part of a competitive process including an application, personal statement, reference check, and personal interview.  Candidates selected for the program would receive $4,000 per year for two years to help defray the cost of pursuing alternative certification.  In exchange for the financial assistance, they would agree to work for the district for three years after completing their certification.  We would select up to 10 employees per year for the program.
