Qualifications:
Required: High school diploma or GED. Physically able to perform the specific job. Able to lift fifty (50) pounds or more. Considerable practical experience in all areas of their responsibility. Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record. Success completion of a background check, physical capacity assessment, and drug screen prior to start date. Purpose: This person is responsible for the general upkeep of the grounds and operation of motorized equipment as instructed by the director of operations or his appointed representative.
Essential Job Functions:
- Attend work in a regular, reliable, and punctual manner.
- Works with their assigned supervisor to maintain the grounds of the St. Joseph School District. Work is performed under a variety of conditions from extreme heat to extreme cold.
- Operates power equipment as required for the specific task. Examples: tractors, forklifts, jack hammers, chain saws, etc.
- Safeguards the School District property, buildings, grounds, and equipment from damage in the performance of these duties.
- Works with their supervisor and maintenance staff performing necessary grounds projects such as mowing, seeding, application of chemicals, asphalt work, asphalt crack filling, tree trimming, concrete removal, fencing, etc.
- Responsible for snow removal
- Maintenance of equipment.
- Responsible for reporting required maintenance for equipment assigned to this individual.
- When weather conditions do not permit grounds work, this person will work with maintenance staff performing necessary repairs as required to the buildings such as removal of floor tile, carpet goods, ceilings, and lights in preparation for new installations.
- Must maintain appropriate grooming and appearance to work in a school setting as defined in the district handbook.
- Basic computer skills are necessary for recordkeeping.
- Required to be available to respond to emergencies. Including after normal working hours.
- Other duties as directed by the Director of Maintenance and Operations or his appointed representative.
