Description

Qualifications:

Required: Master’s degree or higher in the area of Social work and completion of an approved course of study in school social work accredited by CSWE or a School Social Work Specialist credential issued by National Association of School Social Workers. Must have strong organizational skills, be able to facilitate meetings with parents and school staff.

 

Preferred: Social work experience in an educational setting. Have working knowledge of Special Education compliance.

Salary Schedule:  Per Approved Social Worker Salary Schedule

Direct Report:  Coordinator of Early Childhood Services

Terms of Employment:  9 Month

Purpose:  Provide direct services for students demonstrating a need or potential need for social/emotional or behavioral support.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Attend work in a regular, reliable and punctual manner.
  • Provide behavioral, social, and/or emotional support to students through push-in and pull-out models.
  • Provide support for staff working with students having behavioral, social, and/or emotional issues.
  • Develop effective intervention strategies for students based on knowledge and understanding of students behavioral and learning styles to promote student success.
  • Conduct Assessments of student needs that are individualized and provide information that is directly related to designing interventions that address behaviors of concern.
  • Gather as appropriate district data for district reports as, but not limited to, Child Count, Core Data, Exit Report, Referral to placement ratios, number of meetings held, and teacher compliance for the purpose of district reporting to state agencies, the board of education, or district offices.
  • Demonstrate positive and effective interpersonal relationships and communication skills (written, oral, and electronically) for the purpose of resolving concerns or compiling with IDEA.
  • Participates in meetings (IEP meetings, team meetings, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information as well as problem solving.
  • Collaborates with district personnel for the purpose of implementing and maintaining services and/or programs.
  • Prepares a wide variety of written materials (Educational Evaluation Reports, Notices of Action, letters to parents, district/department reports) for the purpose of documenting activities, IEP or district staff decisions, and or conveying information.
  • Maintains files and/or records (e.g. progress reports, activity logs, treatment plans, required documentation, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of information as required for reference and/or compliance.
  • Researches resources and methods for the purpose of determining the appropriate approach for addressing student’ goals.
  • Respond to inquiries for the purpose of providing information and/or referral as appropriate.
  • Initiate and coordinate services for outside agencies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
