Qualifications:
Required: A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a program serving young parents (under age 21) and their children, with 60 college credit hours. A minimum of 2 years’ experience in case management.
Preferred: College degree in early childhood development, family studies, social work or a related field.
Training Required: This position requires 2 weeks of training (80 hours). This may require out of town travel with expenses covered by the St. Joseph School District.

Terms of Employment: Specific work hours are established by home visit appointments set by parent educators and Early Childhood Developmental Screening events for the community of St. Joseph. Families are expected to receive visits during a 12-month period and will require evening and weekend hours.
Essential Job Functions:
- Attend work in a regular, reliable and punctual manner.
- To “telework” when requested by the District.
- Complete requirement to become a certified Parent Educator in accordance with the Parents As Teachers National Center model. Complete Partnering with Teen Parents Training.
- Deliver home visits to caregivers of young children according to the Parents As Teachers National Center Model. This includes partnering with parents to deliver content related to child development, family well-being, and development-centered parenting. Services will be delivered to caseload families with multiple high needs characteristics.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive records.
- Complete Health and Developmental, and Social Emotional Screenings both in the home and in the community.
- Plan and oversee Group Connections in accordance with the PAT model. Group Connections for young parents will occur 3-5 times per month and will primarily take place in the evenings.
- Assist caseload families with accessing community resources and follow up to ensure needs are met
- Partner with other community agencies serving young parents to ensure a continuum of services.
- Design and execute monthly parenting support visits at each school site where there is a pregnant or parenting student. Work with SJSD social workers at each school to support pregnant or parenting students
- Participate in recruiting and outreach throughout the community and within the district.
- Engage in annual Professional Development required for recertification
- Attend monthly Staff meetings
- Complete monthly Reflective Supervision in accordance with the PAT model.
- Other duties as assigned by the Parents as Teachers Supervisor
Other Requirements:
- Be organized, independent and self-motivated.
- Be competent with technology including email, internet, and the web-based record keeping systems.
- Personal, reliable transportation to provide home visits throughout the school district.
