Qualifications: 

Required: Must obtain or possess a current Substitute Certificate or a Teacher Certificate prior to start date. 

 

Individuals will be required to have one of the following to obtain a Substitute Certificate:

  • Associates Degree or higher (need official transcripts for file)
  • 60 college credit hours (need official transcripts for file)
  • Completed Missouri’s 20-hour online substitute training program

 

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Salary Schedule:  Per Approved Education Salary Schedule – Range 2

Direct Report:  Building Principal

Terms of Employment:  9 months    

Eligible for emergency telework:  With Supervisor Approval 

 

Purpose:  ELD paraprofessionals play a supporting role to certified ELD teachers in helping students learn English and helping students access the curriculum.  ELD paraprofessionals help prepare and present lessons under the supervision of the teacher of record.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Attend work in a regular, reliable, and punctual manner.
  • To “telework” when requested by the District.
  • Assist teacher with clerical duties and classroom routines.
  • Administer classroom assignments for purpose of supporting instructional process.
  • Assist in administering WIDA and district assessments.
  • Communicates with teachers and parents for the purpose of assisting in evaluating progress and/or implementing English Language Plan objectives.
  • Monitors individuals and/or groups of students in a variety of settings (e.g. classroom, playground, field trips, library, lunchroom, bus loading/unloading, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Reports observations and incidents to appropriate instructional or administrative personnel, relating to specific students (e.g. accidents, fights, inappropriate social behavior, violations of rules, safety conditions, etc.).
  • Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
  • Assists students, individually or in small groups with lesson assignments for purpose of reinforcing learning concepts under direction of teacher.
  • Covering a ELD class when a substitute teacher is unavailable.
  • Confidentiality, positive and professional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Other assigned duties.
