Qualifications:
Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education (or related field). Must have one to three years of experience in physical education. Prior experience with special needs students and adapted physical education.
Preferred: A Master’s Degree

Purpose: Teaches adapted physical education program to students with disabilities. Provides adapted training to assist students with gross motor skills to be successful in the regular physical education class or to reach full gross motor potential.
Essential Job Functions:
- Attend work in a regular, reliable and punctual manner.
- To "telework" when requested by the District.
- Diagnose, assess, prescribe, and evaluate the motor needs of individual students to determine level of need for adapted physical education services.
- Perform ongoing assessment of physical and perceptual motor needs; write and modify the IEP as needed; maintain student attendance records; write lesson plans in accordance with the IEP goals and the functional abilities of the assigned students which are consistent with the physical education curriculum and with the total educational philosophy and goals of the school.
- Develop and provide specific physical education sessions to address the specific needs of individual students; facilitate ongoing participation in activities that foster student development and physical independence.
- Consult with physical education teachers, special education teachers, parents and students to advise them on techniques and activities that may be used to enhance a student’s school function.
- Maintain an inventory of current equipment and associated materials; make recommendations for needed equipment and material.
- Uphold confidentiality guidelines pertaining to students and their families.
- Prepare and participate in IEP meetings.
